I have been carving wood since receiving my first pocket knife at age seven. I received my fine art training at Humboldt State University — where I was introduced to sculpture by noted sculptor Mel Schuler. Over the next several years, I occupied myself making a living working in the construction industry and teaching at a small college in northern California. During my contracting period, I specialized in the remodeling and restoration of buildings of the Victorian era, learning the craft and techniques of that time. Many of my paintings and sculptures are historical in nature and contain elements of the skills learned in that time period, such as wood graining and decorative plaster casting. During this time, I also attended workshops in classical wood carving with British Master Carver, Ian Agrell and Adam Thorp of London England. I continue to experiment with various techniques but return frequently to the art of trompe l'oeil. I have exhibited at the Morris Graves Museum of Art and my sculptures and carvings can be found in private collections across the US and in the UK.
