Rebecca Dant is printmaker and scanographer, as well as, a mixed media artist. She can be found in her garden studio most days working on some great creation. Sometimes she is rolling ink up on plexi plates and printing on the etching press. Sometimes she is inventing some multi-layered piece from all different kinds of colored papers, parts of other prints - plus doing some painting on all of this.

She has thrown her computer into the mix this time to print digital scans of the flowers from her garden and vegetables and fruit from the Farmer's Market. This scanographic esthetic can best be described as the convergence of natural subjects artistically placed on the scanner bed combined with the judicious use of various backgrounds and light sources. This recipe results in larger than life limited edition artworks that can only be described as Dramatic Realism. The images literally explode off the canvas in a vibrant intensity and depth that magically lend a sense of Old World Character and presence. This technique as well as others make her studio a vibrant and alive place to visit.

Many days other artists are sharing her studio with her. You will never know what she will be up to next.

After studying art at San Jose State University Rebecca went on to do custom designing for a needlepoint company, owning her own needlepoint shop, doing interior design work and color consulting.

Since moving to St. Helena, she has become a regular student in the art classes at the Napa Valley College and is a member of the Arts Council of the Napa Valley.
