I am drawn to areas where the land has settled. Empty streambeds with boulders shoved together in a powerful standstill create unexpected bundles of natural energy that are a recurring theme in my work.

The elements of earth: rock, sandstone, wind, and water, are constant and underlying images in the paintings. Moving light, as it crosses the land, inspires the shifting patterns of hue, value, and intensity.

My process is like a fluctuating current. The feeling of painting just faster than thought slows into a careful placement of markings. Balancing color, shape, and line, the rhythm follows a calm, sustained stream of musical energy - the low hum of the soul at work.
