Returning… the dream journey
"Returning ...the dream journey", Steel, 168"H x 96"W x 98"D, $14,000

Marissa, a Napa-based sculptor, reflects her interests in anthropology and the study of world cultures in her art. Returning the Dream Journey is culturally specific to the nation of Australia. Featured cabled boomerangs always return to their starting points. As the cables sway, they make a harmonic noise similar to the sounds of Australia's most known musical instrument—the didgeridoo. The bouncing flexibility of the sculpture references kangaroos. And last, the black and white bandings represent Australia's long journey of integrating its indigenous and modern day cultural heritages.
