Keep this page bookmarked for more information on the next Napa ARTwalk exhibition launching in July of 2011. Each year, the exhibition will have a new theme for which we will announce on this website. This year's theme is "Celebrating the Napa River".

Arts Council Napa Valley and the City of Napa are proud to announce the new Napa ARTwalk program. Ten sculptures are placed throughout downtown Napa with the sculptural theme, "Celebrating the Napa River."

Arts Council Napa Valley and consultant, Chandra Cerrito in partnership with the City of Napa's Redevelopment Agency drafted a proposal, and on October 5th, 2009, Napa City Council accepted.

The intention of the program is to increase foot traffic while providing a showcase of Northern California sculpture. After the sculptures have been on display for a year, the public will vote on its favorite and in 2011, a whole new set of sculptures will go on display.

The Napa ARTwalk program is a part of fulfilling the Community Cultural Plan to "Build Effective Awareness of the Arts" and "Establish Effective Arts Public Policies".

This program is funded in part by the California Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Poem Dedication

Napa River
Written for Art Walk Napa Valley, July 14, 2010

Elusive-sourced, sprung from
spring's web of silver-storied
mountain rills and runs,
arising like dawn: a gathering;
a burgeoning, sea-quenching quest;
the model of time's alluvial current;
streaming thought, meditation in motion;
unpunctuated run--on;
voluminous discourser, fluent in all language;
brooder of flood; breeder of bug;
mud momma; dragonfly daddy.

Sorcerer of steelhead and sturgeon,
we bank on your banquet,
your free-flowing feast for
snowy egret and Great Blue.
Drawn by you, Bay Spawner, we draw
life's blood, bath in your
artful mystery, Sacramental Arterial.

We, your namesake community
of tributaries, confluence of influences
culled from many cultures,
turn your parade of grace and gravity,
your bounty and beauty,
into wine, into
painting, music, sculpture.

Melding minds on the move,
we go with your ancient flow,
big-mouthed Old Man --
Sing, River, sing.
