New Sculpture Program in Downtown Napa!
Arts Council Napa Valley is proud to announce that the new Napa ART Walk program will launch in June 2010! Sculptors throughout Northern California will be invited to enter their work for what will become a self-guided tour of ten exterior sculptures located in various locations in downtown Napa. To celebrate the launch of this great new program, there will be a kick-off celebration with live music and Poetry in the Park at Veteran's Park on Main and Third Streets.
Arts Council Napa Valley and consultant, Chandra Cerrito in partnership with the City of Napa's Redevelopment Agency drafted a proposal, and on October 5th, 2009, Napa City Council accepted. The intention of the program is to increase foot traffic while providing a showcase of Northern California sculpture. After the sculptures have been on display for a year, the public will vote on its favorite and in 2011, a whole new set of sculptures will go on display. The Napa ART Walk program fits into the Community Cultural Plan strategies, "Build Effective Awareness of the Arts" and "Establish Effective Arts Public Policies".
