This is one of my explorations into what’s creatively possible from the millions of things discarded. It’s amazing what can be salvaged and up-cycled into aesthetic and functional art. I believe my designs to be one-of-a-kind, and the process a cultural adventure.
My journey begins with contemplating what is geometrically, structurally and artfully unique to the wine barrel hoop. These ideas work into sketches, and models. I then carefully cut, bend, polish and weave the metal hoops into aesthetic and functional art. I see these transformations as fun, smart, and whimsical.
