Request for Proposals
PROGRAM SUMMARY & GOALS
The Napa Creek Project is a new, annual, temporary, site-specific public art program privately funded and promoted in partnership with Arts Council Napa Valley. The program aims to enhance the newly landscaped Napa Creek corridor and increase foot traffic to this part of downtown Napa.
LOCATION
The Napa Creek runs through downtown Napa under Main Street. The corridor next to Cole's Chop House has recently been updated according to the Napa River Flood Plan. The site includes a newly landscaped patio and concrete walkway. The available area (approximately 70 square feet) for the artist's installation includes a triangle shaped patio, 18ft long walkway, and an adjacent planting area.
INSTALLATION SPECIFICATIONS
The selected artist will:
- Propose site-specific exterior temporary public art pieces (including the visual, literary, and performing, landscape architecture and self-contained water features) that utilize the space in unique ways
- Consider all surfaces and aspects of the space
- Deliver compelling visual/ sensory impact
- Create appropriate content for a general audience of all ages
- Consider diners in adjacent outdoor restaurant patio
- Create work under 250 lbs that can be installed easily without the use of a crane
- Not submit work that encourages loitering
- No electricity or water
- Street lighting only (at night)
ARTIST ELIGIBILITY
Artists who currently live or work in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
ARTIST HONORARIUM
Artists will be given $5,000 to assist with their expenses and to thank them for their participation.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A brief written description (250 words max) of proposed project including concept, materials, dimensions
- Images as needed to express the idea (similar past works, photos, sketches, etc.)
