About
In 2010 Wandering Rose (a grassroots alternative arts organization sponsored by Arts Council Napa Valley) raised funds to support a temporary space to serve as an all-ages mixed use venue. These funds were to support an accessible and inclusive space for emerging alternative artists and function as a gallery, studio, gathering spot and performance location. Wandering Rose concluded operations before being able to implement the Venue Project plan - leaving over $4,000 for the Venue Project in reserve.

Now, in accordance with best practices and California law, Arts Council Napa Valley (ACNV) is offering a one-time opportunity for like-minded nonprofits or fiscally sponsored projects to carry out the intended purpose of the funds as near as possible to the original project.

Funds Available: $4,429.63
Deadline to Apply: September 28, 2017, 5:00 pm
Award Announced: By November 1, 2018

Purpose and Vision
The role and purpose of the space will be to provide a venue and home that will bring together and foster the independent and innovative voices and perspectives of our community.

We believe alternative arts need to be encouraged in a secure environment where provocative ideas and the spirit of challenging the norm are fostered. It is our intention that this project of creating a space for local indie, pop, and experimental arts will enrich and strengthen the character, compassion, and unity within our community as well as broadening our communication with adjoining neighbors and, eventually, the world at large. As the space grows, it will be a cultural embassy within the Napa Valley - opening the door for expanding our influences by inviting touring artists and groups to have a physical space to perform and share

Eligibility
  • Must be a 501c3 nonprofit organization operating in Napa County, CA
  • Funds must be utilized for arts center/space located in or near the City of Napa, CA
  • Funds may be used for in support of operations or programs that serve the grant criteria
