Local Businesses to Support "Creative Change" during Napa Valley Arts in April
In conjunction with Napa Valley Arts in April® 2015, local businesses are creating programs to give back to the arts with the second annual Creative Change program. Creative Change offers visitors and locals a unique way to experience Arts in April --- having fun while doing good. Throughout the month of April, partnering businesses have added a benefit element to their event or activity by donating a percent of sales or offering a special package. In the 2014, Creative Change Partners donated over $10,000 to Arts Council Napa Valley, helping the non-profit exceed its $20,000 annual goal. Returning for this second year are The Napa Valley Wine Train, whose offer raised over $7,500 for Creative Change in 2014, as well as Humanitas Wines (part of the Good Life Collective with Jessup Cellars). New this year, customers of Andaz Napa, Cairdean Estate, Engage Art Fair, Gordon Huether Studio, Kopol Bonick Art & Photography along with Art House Wines, and Slack Collective Studios will be partnering to raise funds for the arts.
The Napa Valley Wine Train's second Arts in April "Inspiration Station" exhibition showcases the original paintings and fine art giclées of Heidi Barrett, one of the world's most prominent winemakers. Wine Train representative Cheryl Stotler said, “As the Napa Valley Wine Train is considered a rolling museum, a treasure in the valley and as Arts Council Napa Valley strives to enrich the lives of the greater Napa community through arts and culture, we are honored to call the organization a partner. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Arts Council Napa Valley.” A special auction lot of 5 magnums of wines made by Heidi Barrett and an original Heidi Barrett painting will benefit Arts Council Napa Valley. The lot will be open for bid on April 1st closing on April 28th at 7:00pm. The auction lot winner will be announced at the closing reception featuring a meet-and-greet with Heidi Barrett on April 28th from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.
Humanitas, a sister label to Jessup Cellars in Yountville and frequent arts supporter, is continuing its foundational tradition of charitable giving, by donating 20% of proceeds from wine sales when customers mention “Creative Change” (or “Arts in April” and “Arts Council Napa Valley”) through June 30, 2015. With this promotion customers will also be treated to a complimentary tasting for two.
Andaz Napa will be donate $1 to the Creative Change program for every appetizer purchased in the month of April. On April 17th at 6:00pm, Andaz will be holding the event, The Art of iPhotography, a journey into the world of smartphone photography with legendary photographer, Baron Wolman and Knox Bronson.
Cairdean Estate will give all guests of their tasting room a complimentary splash of Sauvignon Blanc. For every bottle sold, Cairdean will donate $5 to the Creative Change program. As Cairdean Estate opens Rosgal Gallery in April 2015 to coincide with Napa Valley’s Arts in April celebration, its premiere exhibition will feature works by local Napa Valley artists by hosting artists and creative works through rotating exhibitions in its exquisite space. Art will range from abstract expression of local flora & fauna to unique mixed-media pieces and sculptures celebrating the wine and the natural beauty of our region. The public unveiling will be held on Saturday, April 18 from 1pm until 5pm, with featured artists on hand to demonstrate and speak about the featured works.
Gordon Huether Studio will donate 5% of sales proceeds throughout the month of April. Join Huether and his studio team on Saturday April 4, 1-3 pm for an exclusive day of glass art making - under the direction of the artist - as well as a behind-the-scenes tour of his 15,0000 sq. ft fabrication studio. Come see how his creations are made and you'll get to create your own piece of glass art as a one-of-a-kind memento of your experience. Your artful experience will be made complete while enjoying premium wines from St. Supery Winery and nibbling on delectable artisan cheeses.
Engage Art Fair, the official closing event for Arts in April, will give $1 for every ticket sold to the Creative Change program. Engage Art Fair takes place on April 24th and 26th in Calistoga, where art in every form converges under one roof to create an immersive sensory and interactive experience. Fusing food, wine, paintings, photography, sculptures, multimedia, installations, performers and participants alike, ENGAGE Art Fair breaks down the boundaries and barriers of traditional exhibition and compartmentalization of art into categories by blurring the lines entirely.
Slack Collective will be giving back to the arts by giving all collected donations from the Local Music and Emerging Artists Collective Collaboration event to the Creative Change program. From April 1st-5th, guests and art enthusiasts may contribute to an external mixed media community art piece (a continuing mural / art wall of sorts) at Slack Collective. This is a great chance to see what the emerging art scene of Napa is up to. Come discover Napa’s alternative, vibrant, and inclusive art scene.
On April 4th, Kopol Bonick Art & Photography along with Art House Wines will be hosting the Beatnik BBQ. Dig the art, photography, studio tours, artist talk and garden tour.
