It's an honor!
We are deeply grateful for the continued outpouring of support for Arts Council and the arts community at large. To honor our outstanding fellow arts advocates, we created a Community Honoraries Web page that will be updated monthly. Click button below to view this page.
This month, there is a great mix of important and fun events for you to enjoy. To make it easy for you to remember what's happening when, we've included "Add to My Calendar" buttons on NVarts.org. It's easy: find the event you want, scroll to bottom of the detail page, click "Add to My Calendar", and choose your Calendar software (Outlook or iCal). NVarts.org is also equipped to send email or text message reminders.
There are lots of great opportunities for you to get involved with the arts community: click here to see our volunteer page. We are looking to grow our Revolving Door Art program and currently seeking a person to manage the program on a contract basis.
Please read on to get the inside scoop of what's going on at Arts Council. And, as always, I'm honored to serve the arts community and look forward to seeing you at upcoming events!
Sincerely,
Kristina Young

ARTS BRING $3.6 MILLION REVENUE TO NAPA COUNTY
Arts Council Napa Valley, in partnership with Americans for the Arts, just completed an Economic Impact Study of the Arts in Napa County. This study provides compelling evidence that the nonprofit arts and culture mean business, contributing over $32.6 million to the economy of our county every year, supporting 966 full-time equivalent jobs and generating $3.6 million in local and state government revenue.
This important study was completed with the support of Napa County and participation of every arts organization in the valley as well as over 100 local working artists. Arts Council will distribute the results to all of the participants for use in grant writing and to strengthen partnerships with the business community.

On December 3, the Public Art Ordinance for the City of Napa was passed with a consensus vote by the City Planning Commission. READ FACT VS FICTION
WANDERING ROSE NOISE ORDINANCE
Earlier this month, members of Wandering Rose, with the support of the Napa County Commission for Arts and Culture and Arts Council Napa Valley, presented Napa's City Council with "State of the Arts", a 24 page review of municipal code regulating noise and live musical performance in downtown Napa. Based on this analysis, the group requested that City Council review several past incidents involving Napa's current noise ordinance (particularly performance permit processing and enforcement policies). Over 20 concerned residents showed up to City Council in support of this proposal. City Council accepted the review and recommended that staff investigate the issue further. More information on the progress of this proposal to come!
Other Bay Area cities have adopted programs to encourage the development of their local arts communities. Not only have these programs (such as Arts Link or Arts Incubator) and code revisions (such as Berkeley's noise ordinance review) helped to foster their local creative communities but have also paid off economically by reenergizing the local economy. ARTwalk: NEW SCULPTURE PROGRAM
Plans for the new Napa ARTwalk are underway. ACNV is working with the Napa City Redevelopment Agency and local public art consultant, Chandra Ceritto, to bring this program to Napa in June of this year. The intention of the program is to increase foot traffic downtown while providing a showcase of Northern California sculpture. A call for artists will go out February/March!
