Coming Together

We're launching a new era at ACNV as part of our 30th Anniversary and we hope you can join us! We have a lot of creative community fun planned this year and it's just getting underway. After all, arts and culture is meant for sharing.

In a few weeks, we're hosting our first quarterly ACNV Mixer for Members on Thursday, March 18, 6-8pm at Rutherford Grange. Enjoy live music by local emerging artists, wine, and hors d'oeuvres with your fellow Arts Council members. Find out what creative projects are going on around the Valley, meet local artists and art fans, and learn how to get even more involved in your community!

NVarts 2010 CELEBRATION: OPEN STUDIOS STATUS
Open Studios has been a great program for the participants, the community at large, and has garnered positive attention over the years. This year, as part of our 30th year anniversary celebration, the ACNV Board of Directors has reinvented it to be part of a larger, more inclusive program for the entire arts and culture community, and to be financially sustainable for the organization.

ACNV is proud to announce the first annual "NVarts 2010 Celebration" to take place during the month of October, California's Arts Month, as designated by the California Arts Council. To coordinate this exciting new event, ACNV has joined forces with the Napa Valley Arts Coalition, who have enthusiastically endorsed this event. The celebration will feature a collaborative marketing plan, a print directory, and a wide variety of special arts and culture events throughout valley during the month of October! More details on this program coming soon.

(Update by Lissette Banda) Wandering Rose holds weekly production meetings at the Arts Council office with much to talk about these days! Establish Effective Arts Public Policies & Build Arts Advocacy Coalition

Napa Has a Public Art Ordinance

GREEN LIGHT FOR PUBLIC ART
Last month's Public Art Ordinance presentation at Napa City Council was a resounding success for the Napa community. A large showing of citizens came out to support this ordinance and after almost three hours of detailed discussion and public comment, Napa City Council voted to approve and develop this Percent for Art program! Napa has now joined the ranks of hundreds of cities throughout the United States who have adopted public art ordinances and seen their cultural heritage flourish. An especially big thanks to all of you who came out on February 16 in support of this historic decision for Napa! It was very encouraging and exciting to see so many people recognize the power of the arts. There is absolutely a movement afoot. Learn more

CALL FOR ENTRIES FOR ARTWALK
Plans for the new Napa ARTwalk are underway. ACNV is working with the Napa City Redevelopment Agency and local public art consultant, Chandra Ceritto, to bring this program to Napa in June of this year. The intention of the program is to increase foot traffic downtown while providing a showcase of Northern California sculpture. A call for artists will go out this month! Learn more about the Program.
