NAPA, California, September 1, 2010. Join us for a unique and memorable kick off event for the inaugural, "Napa Valley ARTS 2010", a month-long, a county-wide celebration of arts and culture.

On October 15, Arts Council Napa Valley and Mumm Napa will present the opening reception for "Meet the Makers: A Portrait of Napa Valley's Creative Community". Sure to be a red carpet affair, with star appearances from Napa Valley's art world, this invitational exhibition features over 65 portraits of inspirational "makers" in Napa Valley, photographed by four artists: Suzanne Becker Bronk, Dona Kopol Bonick, Kristine Cummins, and Chick Harrity. The photographer were asked to shoot people whom they considered to be important, influential, master or emerging 'makers' in our community. They chose painters, musicians, actors, and beyond, including: Oscar Aguilar Olea; Layla Fanucci; Jakey Lee; and Robilee Frederick and many others. The exhibition will be on display at Mumm Napa from October 6th through 31st.

The exhibition also features a special audio tour of selected subject interviews and responsive creations by the The Art Girls: Hannah Bradford, Ruby Harvey, and Grace Murphy.

The artist reception will be held on Friday, October 15 at Mumm Napa at 8445 Silverado Trail, Rutherford. A preview reception will begin at 6pm, with doors open to the general public at 7-8:30pm. Enjoy live music/performance art, hors d'oeuvres, great conversation, and of course, Mumm Napa's delicious sparkling wine.

Tickets are $60 per person, or $99 per couple for the 6pm preview including a special edition catalog of photography and live performances. Doors open to the public at 7pm at $25 per person. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling Arts Council Napa Valley 707-257-2117. This is an all-ages welcome event.
