Fiscal sponsorship fee:
8% of money received for Basic Fiscal Sponsorship program, 10% of money received for Expanded Fiscal Sponsorship program. Sliding scale annual fee of $30-$45.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Aligned mission/values: CounterPULSE offers Fiscal Sponsorship services to independent artists and companies whose work furthers the CounterPULSE mission.
  • Geographic: San Francisco Bay Area organizations only.
  • Other: We prioritize projects that: * Blend more than one performance genre or discipline. Collaboration is strongly encouraged. * Are community-based and socially aware. We are interested in work that addresses current social, political or environmental issues. * Have a clear vision for how they would like to participate in CounterPULSE's community and take advantage of our unique organizational resources. * Are lead by and based in the experiences of queer artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities.

Organization description:
CounterPULSE provides support and low cost resources for emerging artists, serving as an incubator space to create socially relevant, diverse, community-based art in San Francisco. Fiscal Sponsorship is among the core programs of CounterPULSE, which also include an Artist in Residence Program, several festivals of emerging artists, and a high-quality season of dance and performance.

Intersection for the Arts

Fiscal sponsorship fee:
8% flat administrative fee on all earned and contributed income

  • Other: Incubator Services: The Intersection Incubator offers fiscal sponsorship, management expertise, technical support and professional development resources to artists and arts groups accepted into the program. Membership in the Intersection Incubator entitles you to the following services: access to charitable grants and tax-deductible contributions through fiscal sponsorship, including monetary or in-kind donations; resources for identifying available grants, including training on common applications; staff consultation on writing appeal letters, grant applications and reports to funders; formal acknowledgment to funding sources, including tax deduction letters to donors for cash or in-kind contributions (as permitted by law); administration of grant funds to ensure that expenditures are in keeping with original proposals and contracts; ability to receive credit card donations via our website; management of funds deposited at Intersection, including bookkeeping, IRS reporting, check-writing and quarterly account statements; tracking of fees paid to individuals and administration of 1099 tax forms; promotional assistance including a project profile and link from Intersection’s website, opportunity for inclusion in Intersection’s electronic newsletter, publicity through social networking sites including Facebook, and a location for promotional postcards in Intersection's offices; Listserv for seeking advice and resources from other members; reduced rates for rental of Intersection's facilities and/or technical equipment; ticket discounts for performances at Intersection events.

Organization description:
Intersection for the Arts is San Francisco's oldest alternative art space and has a long history of presenting new and experimental work in the fields of literature, theater, music, dance, and the visual arts, and also in nurturing and supporting the Bay Area's cultural community through service, fiscal sponsorship, technical support, and mentorship programs. Intersection provides a place where provocative ideas, diverse art forms, artists, and audiences can intersect one another.

Organization description:
Independent Arts & Media is a unique and growing fiscal sponsor for artists, journalists and media producers. We support independent producers and projects that advance our mission, by enabling independent producers doing noncommercial work in the public interest to raise their own funding, and develop and present their work on their own terms. Our ultimate vision is to strengthen a culture of democracy by cultivating art and media projects that engage neighbors in civic life.

Dancers Group

Dancers’ Group’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program provides administrative support and guidance to choreographers and dance organizations, working in a variety of disciplines, so that they may produce community and performance projects; and ensures funding agencies and contributors that donations and grants received on behalf of the artists/projects are well-managed and funds are disbursed according to the grant proposal and their guidelines.

Criteria
Dancers’ Group will consider projects for sponsorship if they are:

  • Dance, including multi-disciplinary works or projects
  • Serving community needs
  • Serious in intent and well-planned
  • Responsible about proper reporting to funding sources and to the IRS
  • Showing potential for future development
  • Non-legislative

Services
As a fiscally sponsored project, Dancers’ Group will provide:

  • Sponsorship of grant applications and administration of grant funds through a pre-approved grant relationship
  • Formal acknowledgment to funding sources of all contributions and monitoring of expenditures to ensure that they are in keeping with the original proposals, contracts or funding letters
  • Staff consultation on writing of grants and on final reports to funders
  • General guidance about possible funding sources
  • Access to grant deadline calendar
  • Assistance with securing liability insurance ($150 per certificate)
  • Access to Dancers’ Group non-profit bulk mail indicia

Fees & Benefits
Upon acceptance in the fiscal sponsorship program an annual fee of $75 is due at the time a contract is signed between Dancers’ Group and the project. In addition to the ability to raise funds for your project, fiscally sponsored projects receive:

  • Quarterly finance statements sent to you
  • 10 issues a year of In Dance delivered first class
  • Link to the Grant Deadline calendar
  • Advertising discounts
  • 2012-2013 Performance forecasting calendar
  • Weekly E-Bulletins, featuring auditions, jobs, free & discounted tickets, national news and more
