Lucy Liu is an accomplished artist whose work was recently exhibited at the National Museum of Singapore, Liu has created an impressive collection of deeply personal artworks, ranging from large-scale paintings to inventive mixed media works to intricate wood sculptures.

The exhibit focuses on her wood sculptures and on oversized paintings inspired by Shunga, a form of erotic art based on the “ukiyo-e” or Japanese woodblock. It also features representative works from her “Totem” series including “41”, in which intricate embroidered “spines” are paired with bold designs fashioned from fabric, paper and thread. Also on display will be an example of her silkscreens, and artworks from the “Lost & Found” series, in which found objects are incorporated into books which become works of art themselves.

COOL Schools and Mariposa are programs of the Napa County Office of Education that provide educational and social emotional programming to students in Napa. We have teamed up for our third Paint Night Fundraiser on Apr. 29, 2020. This fundraiser is important to our programs because the proceeds will support the purchasing of program supplies such as snacks, arts and crafts, club t-shirts. Additionally, it will enable us to invite special guest speakers and take our students on educational fieldtrips.

COOL School provides afterschool academic intervention services and programing to students in Phillips, Snow, and Shearer Elementary Schools. The program reaches over 375 students each year and partners with AmeriCorps tutors to support students during the school day with language arts and math support.

Mariposa is a girl empowerment program that is devoted to cultivating the next generation of female leaders. Every year we serve approximately 125 students in eight middle and high schools in Napa. Our groups provide a safe place for the girls to develop self-love, sisterhood, and leadership.
