The City of Napa is pleased to announce that “Guermo en Inverno” by artist James Burnes is the People’s Choice winner of the 2015-17 Napa Art Walk
The City of Napa is pleased to announce that “Guermo en Inverno” by artist James Burnes is the People’s Choice winner of the 2015-17 Napa Art Walk, the rotating sculpture exhibition in downtown Napa.
Mr. Burnes, from Sante Fe, NM, created the sculpture using Corten steel and locust wood after encountering and being inspired by a little bull named Guermo. All of his sculptures are based on actual animals and he says he tries to imbue each with the spirit of the subject.
Napa City Council presented Mr. Burnes with a proclamation announcing his award on April 4th during a regularly scheduled City Council meeting. A photo of the sculpture will be featured on the next Art Walk 2017-2019 brochure.
In addition to the People’s Choice Award contest, a 2015-2017 Napa Art Walk Instagram Contest is now underway. The deadline will be May 31, 2017. To enter, the public is welcome to participate by uploading a photograph of any current Napa Art Walk sculpture to Instagram and must be tagged with #napaartwalk. The winner will be selected from the correctly tagged photograph and will receive a special gift from a downtown Napa merchant. For more information, please visit www.NapaArtWalk.org.
All of the work from the 2015-2017 Art Walk exhibition will be removed within the next month to make room for the 2017-19 show, which will open in late June 2017.
