Arts Council Napa Valley Receives California Arts Council “Creative California Communities” Grant
Napa Valley Arts in April 2015 is among seven new projects funded statewide in support of transforming communities through the arts
The California Arts Council (CAC) announced a $56,000 grant to Arts Council Napa Valley in partnership with Celebrate! Napa Valley, Napa Valley Museum, and Visit Napa Valley as part of its Creative California Communities program. This program was formed in early 2014 with the goal of transforming communities by harnessing arts and culture as a key economic development strategy. The award will support Arts Council Napa Valley and its partners in Napa Valley Arts in April® 2015 (AiA), providing funds to elevate the program in quality and diversity of events.
“All of us on the organizing team are so proud to be selected for this special grant.  This is an incredible leap for this program and will significantly increase our capacity to deliver a unique experience of the Napa Valley through arts and culture.  2015 will be a landmark year for this program and for the arts in Napa County,” said Olivia Everett, CEO of Arts Council Napa Valley.
Napa Valley Arts in April® (AiA) is an annual celebration of the elemental connection between the arts and wine & food in the Napa Valley. The month-long program satisfies cultural cravings with an exploration of creative pairings through art installations, performances, pop-up exhibitions, and special events. Introduced in April 2011, AiA offers special access to a wide-variety of experiences highlighting the “Napa Valley Collection®” (www.NapaValleyCollection.com), making it the perfect time to get a dose of Napa Valley culture. The month-long celebration kicks off with a party at Napa Valley Museum’s annual Napa Valley Collects exhibition and culminates with a festival highlighting visual and performing artists presented by Celebrate! Napa Valley.  In 2013, Visit California awarded VNV and ACNV with the state award of “Best Regional Collaborative Marketing Campaign” for AiA.
“The CAC is pleased to support Arts Council Napa Valley and the partnership with Visit Napa Valley, Napa Valley Museum and Celebrate! Napa Valley with a Creative California Communities grant. Their work will further demonstrate the power of the arts to transform our state,” said Wylie Aitken, Chair of the California Arts Council. “Napa Valley Arts in April’s® high quality project is a model example of the innovative ways in which the arts can uniquely partner with local business and government entities. Reinvention and stimulation of our urban and rural areas through the arts shows the power and importance of creativity in all phases of our collective lives.”
The Napa Valley Arts in April® partners join grantees from a first wave of recipients for the Creative California Communities program.
