The City of Napa has released a Call for Artists for the 2017-2019 Napa Art Walk. This next iteration for the two year rotating sculpture program will the fifth since the program began in 2009.
The theme for the 2017-2019 program is “Shifting Perspective”, and seeks artworks that demonstrate the power of perspective: art that changes depending upon how, when and where it is viewed. This may take the form of a shift in scale, context, construction or some other aspect; some things that are hidden in one view become visible in another, or arrangements of things may be easier to recognize from one perspective than another. The intention is to make viewers pause, reflect or take note and to personalize the phrase, “When you change the way you look at things, the way things look starts to change.”
The call is open to professional artists over 18 living or working in these Western states: AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, OR, UT or WA.
In addition to the new call for artists, the City has also refreshed program branding. There is a new logo and website design, still at www.NapaArtWalk.com.
