Gallery & Museum Store Manager
The Museum seeks a magical combination of creativity and responsibility in one person: our new Gallery & Museum Store Manager. This talented person will curate the complete experience of visiting our Museum and shopping in our Museum Store. Reliable and experienced, this people-pleaser will staff the Museum’s front desk Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 to 4 pm, serving as the friendly face of the Museum to its Members, Volunteers and Visitors. They will manage and curate our Museum Store – and its current and future Pop-up locations – to be their own works of art, driving attendance and revenues and adding to museum visitor and member satisfaction.
Duties include, but are not limited to, providing a visitor friendly atmosphere; monitoring artwork and museum areas to ensure safety and security; monitoring alarm systems; dispersing and collecting audio tour equipment; signing in and helping to deploy our volunteers, and other duties as assigned. The Manager will manage gift shop sales, help to redefine the store for each new exhibition, and work with Museum staff in tracking consignment sales, ordering merchandise, performing inventories and restocking shelves. Must be able to work
independently to conceive and implement a creative vision, while keeping team members informed and running the gallery with precision and style.
General work hours are Wednesday through Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm, but additional hours may be needed dependent on the times and dates of scheduled programs and events. Ability to work weekends is required. This Manager will be required to walk and move about work location on foot, and work will include periods of standing, sitting, and use of stairs and ladders. May be required to lift and/or move items of moderate weight. High School diploma required; College Degree and Sales experience preferred. Previous museum, art or education experience is a plus. Candidates must have strong customer service & communication skills, should be proficient with computers and cash registers, and possess excellent organizational skills. Experience with Excel, Word and Quicken Point of Sale preferred. References required.
This is a full time position of 32 hours a week, with benefits. Hourly pay will be $18-20, depending upon experience. Napa Valley Museum Yountville is an at- will employer, which means either Napa Valley Museum Yountville or its employees may terminate the employee-employer relationship at any time without notice. The position reports to the Executive Director.
