We are seeking an experienced and talented Technical Artist to work on a new, unannounced, Activision project led by industry veterans Fred Ford and Paul Reiche. We are looking for a detail-oriented developer with hands-on Unreal 4 experience and the skills and passion to empower artists, animators and designers to prototype and finish AAA games. You must thrive in a challenging and often ambiguous environment. IMPORTANT SECRET: While this opportunity is indeed located in Novato, CA, it is not actually a Toys For Bob studio project. Your responsibilities will include:

Find, build and support key technologies and workflows that enable artists and designers to quickly implement visual content into our games.
Push the graphical limitations of our engine, maintain frame rate requirements, and deliver content within memory and disk footprint budgets.
Act as a bridge between visual, technical and design staff, demonstrating superior communication skills to facilitate collaboration.
Keep up to date on modern trends in real-time rendering and art asset production, serving as a technical resource and consultant for the entire team.
Serve as a Jack-of-all-Trades during protype phase to provide developers with placeholder visual assets.

Requirements for this role include:

Portfolio with examples of professional work (e.g. art, scripts, tools, simulations, etc.)
Advanced understanding of UE4.
A strong artistic eye with advanced understanding in one or more of the following domains: modeling, design, texturing, materials, animation, rigging, lighting.
Advanced understanding of one or more of the following DCC applications: 3dsmax, Maya, Zbrush, Mari, Houdini, Photoshop, Substance Painter/Designer and their integration with UE4.
Intermediate knowledge of Python, C#, JavaScript or Mel.
Confident communication in writing and person-to-person conversation. Key skills include honesty, clarity, flexibility, understanding, accuracy, receptiveness, and kindness.
Energy, enthusiasm, and optimism.

You will really get our attention if you demonstrate the following:

3+ years of Tech Art experience.
Experience developing and shipping AAA console games.
C++ experience
Blueprint or asset scripting abilities.
Have trained or mentored others.
