Urban Art Scholarship
The Urban Art Scholarship was started by college student and artist, Trevor Coopersmith in 2016. Trevor graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with no parental financial support or student loans. Working four jobs, attending Community College, and Scholarships assisted in his dream to attend a prestigious university. Soon to be a MFA student at the University of London, Goldsmiths, Trevor makes it a goal to donate his work and create art for his community. The scholarship foundation identifies artistically driven individuals, who incorporate art into benefiting their community as well. Financial support is given to one student selected per year, after reviewing scholarship applications from March 1st to December 31st. The award of $350.00 is granted on January 31st to winning participant, based on artistic work and essay, to support the drive to obtain a career in the arts and to benefit society in a non-linear, artistic way for years to come. The Urban Art Scholarship is to provide youth with hope for financial and educational support. The foundation was created to support the art in the community for future generations; and to provide inspiration for artists who wish to pursue a career in the arts.
