Lucky Penny Brings Home Two Theatre Bay Area Awards
Actors take home major awards at 4th annual Theatre Bay Area Awards
Recognition for Lucky Penny's production of "Big River"
(Napa CA) At a ceremony October 30th at the Herbst Theatre in San Francisco, two actors from Napa's Lucky Penny Productions received major acting awards for their work in last season's production of "Big River." Receiving the honors were Phillip Percy Williams, who played the role of Jim, and Michael Scott Wells, who played The Duke.
"We were excited to receive seven nominations for the Theatre Bay Area awards this year," said Artistic Director Taylor Bartolucci, "and absolutely thrilled to see two of our Associate Artists win their category and be recognized for their talents." Bartolucci was among other Lucky Penny nominees, recognized for her performance in "Maple and Vine" as well as for her costume design for that show, and for co-directing "Big River" with Barry Martin. Also nominated were Heather Buck and Bobby August, Jr. for their acting work in "Maple and Vine."
Williams received the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Principal Role in a Musical. He received a similar honor at the Solano-Napa area Arty Awards in September. Wells received the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical.
The Theatre Bay Area (TBA) Awards are the Bay Area's first ever peer-adjudicated theatre awards, designed to recognize and celebrate excellence in the Bay Area's diverse, dynamic theatre scene. Nominees are selected from hundreds of productions across the nine-county Bay Area.
