CA Lawyers for the Arts | Wells Fargo Building 2140 Shattuck Avenue Berkeley, CA 94704 | November 8th, 2017

Wed. Nov 8, 2017 7:00pm - 8:30pm PST

Join Foster Dobry of Dobry IP, PC for a discussion of basic intellectual property law and critical issues to avoid when developing your brand and business. This workshop will cover patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law basics, as well as a discussion of example art businesses and the issues that arise. Major points for the discussion will include: what each area of IP law covers, how long it lasts, how much it costs, and issues to watch out for. I will also discuss two hypothetical arts related businesses and the IP issues that result. These issues include loss of IP rights, contractual waiver of rights, and steps the DIYer can take to prevent loss of rights.
