Napa ARTwalk Seeks Artists for 2015-2017 Exhibition

The City of Napa has released a call for entries for the next Napa ARTwalk sculpture exhibition to be displayed in downtown Napa, June 2015-May 2017.

The City of Napa has released a call for entries for the next Napa ARTwalk sculpture exhibition to be displayed in downtown Napa, June 2015-May 2017.

This will be the fourth Napa ARTwalk exhibition since the program began in 2010. Each program has featured a jury selected exhibition of sculpture created by artists living in the Western United States. The program has received positive regional and national attention and has been featured in several media outlets including: The Miami Herald, 7 x 7 Magazine, The Washington Post, and Sunset Magazine.

In order to open up the field of proposals and provide variation in the format, this will be the first exhibit  to be un-themed. Each of the past exhibitions were based upon unifying themes, including “The Napa River“, “Art that Moves (Us)” focusing on kinetic sculpture, and most recently, “Metamorphosis”.  For this exhibit, the City expects to receive a wide array of sculptures for consideration, and with no theme to limit the subject of the art, there is opportunity for new and exciting works for the public to enjoy. This year’s jury include: Stephen Whisler, artist and Public Art Steering Committee Chair for the City of Napa; Amy Owen, di Rosa Curator; and Chandra Cerrito, Chandra Cerrito Contemporary Owner and Public Art Consultant. Up to 15 new sculptures will be chosen to participate in the exhibit.

Sculpture in each Napa ARTwalk is located along the primary pedestrian corridors of Main Street and First Street in downtown Napa, with all art sites within walking distance of one another. The City will again produce a printed map for the public to use for self-guided tours, and more information will also be available online at www.napaartwalk.org.

Only completed artworks are eligible for consideration in the exhibit; conceptual proposals will not be considered. For more information about the program and application instructions, please visit www.napaartwalk.org. Interested artists may submit work online directly through www.callforentries.org (search for “Napa ARTwalk”). The deadline to submit work for this exhibition is January 31, 2015.
